Every culture has its own vocabulary for family. In many South Asian families, a father's brother is a different kind of uncle than a mother's brother — they have completely different names, different roles, different weight. The English word 'uncle' erases all of that.
ECO's kinship language system lets your network display relationship labels in whatever language fits your community. Hindi. Twi. Māori. Yoruba. Spanish. The relationship between two people in your network is shown in the words that belong to your culture — not the nearest English approximation.
Members can also set personal overrides — "I call my grandmother Bibi, show me Bibi everywhere" — without needing approval. And if a term is missing, any member can suggest it. The Conductor reviews suggestions and promotes them to the network's library.
A grandmother is not just a grandmother. She is who your language says she is.
The Conductor sets the kinship language for the whole network. Every relationship label throughout ECO — in the Energy Tree, the directory, hover cards, admin views — renders in that language automatically.
Any member can override their own relationship labels. "I call my grandmother Bibi — show me Bibi in my view only." It takes effect immediately. No one else's view changes. No approval required.
If a term is missing or wrong, any member can suggest a correction. The suggestion includes the term, the language, the relation, and the reason. The Conductor reviews it and can promote it to the network's shared library — or to the platform-wide library for other networks to use.
