Vasquez-Nair Family — Private Messaging
A Malayalam lesson between a grandfather in Pasadena and a grandson in Toronto. Nobody else in the network can see this thread.

In most networks — faith communities, cultural groups, indigenous communities — members may share a deep bond without knowing each other personally. A congregation member shouldn't need to share their phone number to have a private conversation with another member. A tribal youth shouldn't need to give their email to a community elder they've just met.

ECO messaging connects members to each other through the network — not around it. The connection is possible because you're both in the same network. The conversation stays inside ECO. Nothing personal is exchanged to make it happen.

Connection happens through the network. Not around it.

I saw your answer about the village — my grandfather mentioned the same name. Can we talk more about this?

Of course. My grandfather left boxes of letters — some mention Amritsar specifically, dates going back to 1923. I can photograph them this weekend.

That would be incredible. We've been looking for this for years. Thank you for answering the question.

Neither person shared a phone number or email address. They found each other through the network's Ask Your Network board.
How messaging works
01
Direct messages and group chats.

Message any network member one-to-one, or create a group thread with multiple members. Group chats are named and persistent — ideal for planning events, coordinating family activities, or keeping a sub-group connected.

02
Email alert when a message arrives.

Members don't need to stay logged in to ECO. When a new direct message arrives, an email notification is sent — instantly. No message is missed because someone wasn't online. Members can turn this off in settings if they prefer.

03
Private to your network members only.

You can only message people who are in your network. There's no way to receive unsolicited messages from outside. No strangers. No spam. The network boundary is the privacy boundary.
