Two capabilities are licensed separately from the network itself. Each is added when the Nation asks for it, and each carries its own line on the invoice so it can be budgeted, granted for, or declined on its own.
🏛 Virtual Heritage Center
A curated collection the Nation runs itself. Objects, photographs, documents and recordings are accessioned with a permanent provenance record — who contributed it, when, and under what conditions — kept separate from the descriptions and memories community members add on top of it. Neither layer overwrites the other, and both survive an export.
- Access is decided by community protocol, item by item — not by a public or private switch.
- Restricted material is never deleted and never made to look as though it does not exist. A visitor who does not qualify is told the item is held and directed to its custodian.
- A curator can hide an item from display. A curator cannot delete it, cannot take it, and cannot make a contributor's material public against their wishes.
- Contributors keep control of their own contributions and may withdraw them at any time, without giving a reason.
- The Nation may hold its own recordings and images on its own storage instead of ours, if it has the capacity to do so.
- Members see it as the Collection, or under whatever name the Nation gives it — Keeping Place, Cultural Center, or a word in the Nation's own language.
ECO supplies the infrastructure. Digitizing, cataloguing and deciding what belongs in the collection are the Nation's work, and the Nation's alone.
📖 Language Circles
Structured teaching inside the same network, so a class is not a separate system with a separate login. Cohorts, sessions and participation records sit alongside the vocabulary the community has already documented, which means a lesson draws on the Nation's own recorded speech rather than a textbook.
- Built for community programs and youth groups as readily as for a classroom.
- Elders contribute directly; learners hear the language from people they know.
- Participation is reportable for grant purposes without exposing what any individual said or recorded.
- Students join the Nation's network and remain part of it after the class ends.
- Every invitation is approved by the Nation before it is sent. A seat funded under the agreement is provisioned only for someone the Nation has approved.
- If a seat stops being funded it becomes read-only rather than disappearing. The learner keeps reading, and keeps the right to download their own work.
Curriculum and instruction belong to the Nation. ECO provides the place it runs.
